BACK...Report Braga II
TEAM LINKS SPONSORSRace Report – Motosport Estoril II Free practice saw Nuno slip comfortably in to the 1.53s after only a small number of laps. Bike adjustments had to be made to counter some degree of difficulty holding a line in fast corners and handle bar position adjusted to for extra comfort in the fast sweepers. Promomoto 1000 Quali 1 – Sat pm Paulo Brandao opened the hostilities on his BMW S100R with a blistering 1.51.9 that laid out his intentions for the weekend. No one else tipped into the 1.51s until the closing stages of the session where Nuno came out to set a 1.51.7 time that gave him provisional pole going into Sunday. Quali 2 – Sun am Times generally did not improve over this session with the exception of Felipe Carvalho that found time on the slowest part of the circuit to improve his rhythm by almost 1 second. He took pole with a 1.51.2. Nuno was left with his best time of the previous day and could not improve due to traffic and movement/vibration in the handlebars. Front row was then dominated by the 3 championship contenders Felipe, Nuno and Paulo Brandao in 3rd. Race – Sun PM The started in good weather conditions with Felipe stormed to the lead and setting on to try and loose the field. Nuno was 3rd to the first turn but eventually came up to 2nd a position he led for the first half of the race. Midway through though, Nuno came under pressure from Pedro Monteiro and Fernando Neto and had to give way two places. The Fernando Neto – Nuno Caetano battle was once again on … After a few passes the final result was the same with Fernando having a clear advantage under acceleration that left Nuno having to always catch up under braking without being able to pull past & away. Final result saw Felipe take the win and the championship. Nuno came in in 4th, crucially ahead of of Paulo Brandao (who had to come in for a stop and go) which was good enough to secure the 2nd place in the championship.
