Race Report – Motosport Braga III Free practice was greeted with rain. The thoroughly wet track allowed only for limited acclimatization but was good to develop a wet setting should the race occur under those conditions. Promomoto 1000 Quali After struggling for a while in the low 1.24s Nuno managed to set a fast lap in the 1.23,5s in the closing stages of the session which was good for pole position going into the race.. Race – Sun PM Taking off from pole Nuno was piped off to the first corner by notoriously fast starter Felipe Carvalho. The race settled around a pack of 4 riders (Nuno, Felipe, Fernando Neto and Paulo Brandao) swapping places for most off the duration of proceeds. Paulo Brandao was the strongest in the closing stages managing to jump to the lead and put a 2 seconds on the chasing bunch. Nuno was third at that time breathing down the neck of Fernando Neto who was riding well to defend his position. Championship leader Felipe Carvalho had an off and was making up lost ground in 5th. At the end of the gruelling race Felipe managed to climb up to 4th after Paulo Brandao, Fernando and Nuno who had been chasing hard but unable to pass and in the process managed to post the fastest lap of the race (and fastest of the year for the class) a 1.23.05. This was a good result that left Nuno in the championship lead by only 2 points with 1 race to go. Race post mortem After complaining the lack of straight-line speed some forensic investigation reported almost 20bhp loss on Nuno’s motor …) it’s a full rebuild for the next race! !
